Vietnam Becomes K-Food Gateway

Arabfields, Meriem Senouci, Correspondent, Hanoï, Vietnam — South Korea is strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia by positioning Vietnam as the central hub for the distribution of Korean food products across the ASEAN region. The strategy reflects the growing popularity of Korean cuisine and the increasing importance of Vietnam as both a consumer market and a regional logistics center.

Officials from South Korea’s agriculture sector recently confirmed that Vietnam will play a leading role in expanding supply chains for Korean food products throughout Southeast Asia. The decision follows years of rising consumer demand fueled by Korean entertainment, tourism and cultural exchanges, all of which have contributed to stronger interest in Korean brands.

Vietnam has become South Korea’s fourth largest export market for agricultural and food products. Trade figures released in 2026 show that South Korean exports of agricultural and food goods to Vietnam continue to grow steadily, supported by investments in modern logistics facilities, cold chain infrastructure and local distribution networks. Bilateral trade between the two countries is also expected to approach 100 billion US dollars, highlighting the depth of their economic partnership.

The impact is already visible on the ground. Supermarket managers in Hanoi report that Korean snacks, instant noodles, beverages and frozen foods are attracting a broader customer base than ever before. Young professionals and families increasingly choose Korean products alongside local brands, while restaurant owners say demand for authentic ingredients has continued to rise.

At a Korean food exhibition in Hanoi, business representatives met with distributors from several ASEAN countries to discuss future partnerships. Many visitors sampled new products and expressed interest in healthier ready to eat meals and premium food ingredients. Local entrepreneurs described the event as an opportunity to connect directly with international suppliers and explore new business opportunities.

Industry analysts believe Vietnam offers significant advantages thanks to its strategic location, expanding transportation network and competitive manufacturing sector. Investments in warehousing and refrigerated logistics are expected to improve delivery times while maintaining product quality across neighboring markets including Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.

Looking ahead, market forecasts suggest that Korean food exports through Vietnam will continue to expand over the next several years if current demand trends remain strong. Companies are expected to increase local production, introduce products tailored to Southeast Asian tastes and develop closer partnerships with regional retailers. As consumer interest in Korean cuisine continues to grow, Vietnam is likely to strengthen its position as one of the region’s most important gateways for K Food distribution and trade.
