Dole Agrees to Sell Fresh Vegetables Business to Private Equity Firm Arable Capital

August 7, 2025 — Dole plc has finalized the sale of its Fresh Vegetables Division to Holdco, the parent company of organicgirl and a portfolio firm of Arable Capital Partners, in a transaction valued at $140 million.

The move marks a strategic shift for Dole, allowing the multinational fruit and vegetable company to concentrate on its high-margin tropicals segment and enhance its financial flexibility.

The Fresh Vegetables Division, which employs over 3,000 people, includes a wide range of operations across the United States. Its portfolio encompasses whole produce such as lettuce varieties, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, asparagus, artichokes, green onions, radishes, sprouts, and cabbage, along with packaged salads and salad kits. The division operates agricultural fields and three major processing plants.

As part of the agreement, Dole will retain ownership of its facilities in Huron, California, and Yuma, Arizona.

Carl McCann, executive chairman of Dole, described the sale as a key milestone in the company’s strategic realignment.

“We are pleased to announce the sale of our Fresh Vegetables Division to Arable Capital,” McCann said in a statement. “A combination with organicgirl will create a strong platform to realize operational efficiencies and expand the overall offering and service to customers and consumers. This sale allows us to sharpen our focus on core business activities in the tropicals category.”

Arable Capital Partners expressed optimism about the future of its expanded fresh produce portfolio.

“With strong brands and a presence across multiple channels, as well as solid leadership, Dole Fresh Vegetables is an outstanding addition to our portfolio that is positioned for continued growth and success,” said Derek Yurosek, managing director at Arable.

In a related development, organicgirl also announced the acquisition of Braga Fresh, a vertically integrated grower and processor of conventional and organic vegetables, known for its salad kits, blends, and fresh-packed offerings.

Mark Drever, co-founder of organicgirl, highlighted the benefits of the expanded business network.

“This combination unlocks exciting new potential for the organicgirl brand and presents meaningful opportunities for the dedicated teams across all three companies,” Drever said. “With enhanced resources and scale, we are even better positioned to deliver on our promise of quality and care to consumers.”

The transactions reflect a broader consolidation trend in the produce sector as companies seek scale, efficiency, and stronger positioning in a competitive market.
