Noposion Revises Blueberry Growth Strategy

Arabfields, Farah Benali, Economic Correspondent, China — Chinese agricultural company Noposion has withdrawn its planned 1.45 billion yuan private share offering, marking a shift in the financing strategy behind its fast growing blueberry business while reaffirming its commitment to long term expansion.

The company said it decided to cancel the fundraising plan after reviewing market conditions, industry developments and its operational priorities. Executives stressed that the decision would not affect ongoing business activities or the company’s long term development strategy, adding that future investments in its blueberry operations will be supported through internal resources and other financing channels rather than a new share issuance.

The canceled fundraising package had been designed to finance the expansion of blueberry plantations, establish an international berry research center and strengthen working capital. The production project alone was expected to add about 900 hectares of new blueberry fields over two years, supporting the company’s ambition to increase output as consumer demand for premium berries continues to expand.

Despite the financing change, Noposion remains one of China’s largest blueberry producers. By 2026, the company had invested more than 4 billion yuan in its blueberry operations, developing over 60 farms and more than 40 cold chain processing centers across Yunnan Province. Blueberry sales have exceeded 2 billion yuan, with the business accounting for more than 40% of total company revenue, reflecting its growing importance within the group’s diversified agricultural portfolio.

Farm managers and industry participants say the company’s rapid expansion has transformed blueberry production in several regions of Yunnan, creating new employment opportunities while encouraging investment in cold storage and logistics. However, analysts also note that China’s blueberry sector is entering a more mature phase, with slower industry growth prompting companies to place greater emphasis on profitability and disciplined capital spending.

Looking ahead, market observers expect Noposition to continue expanding its blueberry business at a more measured pace. If domestic demand for premium fruit remains resilient and operational efficiency continues to improve, the company could strengthen its position in China’s fresh produce market while relying less on external fundraising and more on internally generated cash flow.
