Arabfields, Meriem Senouci, Correspondent, Hanoï, Vietnam — Vietnam has officially launched its national agricultural product traceability system, marking a significant step in the country’s drive to modernize its farming sector and strengthen confidence in food exports. The digital platform is designed to improve transparency throughout the supply chain, allowing consumers, businesses and regulators to verify the origin and production history of agricultural goods.
The nationwide rollout follows months of pilot testing and comes as Vietnamese exporters face stricter quality requirements in international markets. Officials believe the new system will help local producers remain competitive while improving food safety standards and reinforcing the reputation of Vietnamese products abroad.
Farmers attending the launch welcomed the initiative, saying that better traceability could help them secure higher prices and build stronger relationships with overseas buyers. Exporters also expressed optimism, noting that customers increasingly request detailed information about production practices before signing long term supply agreements.
According to 2026 figures, the platform already covers more than 18,500 products, representing 181 product categories from 170 businesses across 24 provinces and cities. Authorities expect participation to grow rapidly as more producers and processors integrate their operations into the national database. The system currently includes key agricultural products such as rice, tea, meat, eggs, milk and tropical fruits, sectors that play an important role in Vietnam’s export economy.
Government officials say the platform will also improve food safety monitoring by providing faster access to production records and enabling quicker responses whenever quality concerns arise. Businesses believe the technology will reduce paperwork and simplify compliance with international certification requirements, making it easier to access premium markets.
Industry analysts expect the traceability system to become an essential part of Vietnam’s agricultural strategy over the next several years. As more farms and companies join the platform, experts anticipate stronger export performance, improved consumer confidence and greater efficiency across supply chains. Continued investment in digital infrastructure and producer training is expected to accelerate adoption, positioning Vietnam as one of Asia’s leading exporters of high quality and fully traceable agricultural products.
