Asia Fruit Logistica Draws Record Crowds in Hong Kong Return

Asia Fruit Logistica 2025 Sets New Benchmark for Global Fresh Produce Trade

Hong Kong – September 7, 2025 – Asia Fruit Logistica cemented its status as the leading international trade platform for Asia’s fresh fruit and vegetable business this week, drawing more than 14,000 trade visitors and 760 exhibitors from 43 countries and regions. The event, held from September 3–5 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, showcased the most international edition in its history, reflecting the growing global importance of Asia’s fresh produce markets.

Stronger Global Participation

“This year’s Asia Fruit Logistica exceeded all expectations in terms of engagement, innovation, and business opportunities,” said David Axiotis, managing director of Global Produce Events, the organiser. “The event highlighted not only the resilience of the fresh produce sector but also the energy and optimism driving its future.”

A total of 26 national and regional pavilions were featured, including newcomers from Japan, Israel, and Armenia. Peru took centre stage as the Official Partner Country, underscoring its rapidly expanding role as a key supplier to Asia.

China remained the single-largest exhibiting country, followed closely by the United States, Australia, Egypt, and New Zealand. A First Timer Pavilion debuted this year, providing a dedicated showcase for nine companies from seven countries making their first appearance.

Networking in Style: The Welcome Evening

The trade fair officially began with a Welcome Evening on September 2 at Hong Kong’s Rosewood Hotel. Co-hosted with wholesale market partners Guangzhou Jiangnan Agricultural Group and Shanghai Huizhan Fruit and Vegetable Market, along with Knowledge Partner Asiafruit Magazine, the invitation-only event gathered more than 800 senior industry professionals against the backdrop of the city’s iconic harbour skyline.

Buyers at the Forefront

On the show floor, exhibitors reported brisk activity as thousands of trade visitors connected with potential partners. Organisers expanded buyer engagement through the Retailer’s Club and Premium Buyers programme, which drew more than 1,100 leading buyers. Services included a dedicated lounge, structured matchmaking, and over 100 speed-dating meetings designed to accelerate deal-making.

Knowledge at the Core

Beyond networking, Asia Fruit Logistica has become a hub for thought leadership. The Asiafruit Knowledge Centre, powered by Asiafruit Magazine, delivered three days of expert content across three streams: Asiafruit Congress, Asiafruit Business Forum, and Asiafruit Showcase.

More than 50 speakers offered insights ranging from market strategy to practical supply chain solutions. A highlight was the opening panel of the Asiafruit Congress, marking Asiafruit Magazine’s 30th anniversary, where senior figures including Konna Mu (Joy Wing Mau Group), Marc Evrard (Belgian Fruit Valley), Felipe Casanova (Copefrut), and Steve Quinn (Pivit Global) traced the evolution of Asia’s produce trade.

Sessions covered diverse topics such as banana trade trends, digital marketing strategies in Southeast Asia, innovations in melon production, irradiation technology, and the role of data in strengthening cold chain logistics.

Expanding Horizons: New Forums

Two new forums debuted this year, reflecting the sector’s diversification. The Frozen Fruit and Vegetables Forum explored the fast-growing frozen category with contributions from Top Fruits’ Tan Sue Yee and Oxford Frozen Foods’ Ivy Wang. Meanwhile, the Nuts & Dried Fruit Forum featured insights from global leaders including the California Walnut Commission and Chile Almonds.

Celebrating Excellence: Asia Fruit Awards

The Asia Fruit Awards 2025 recognised outstanding industry achievements. Winners included:

  • Marketing Campaign of the Year: Dole China for its Banana 125th Anniversary campaign.
  • Importer of the Year: City Fresh Fruit (Thailand).
  • Produce Retailer of the Year: Central Retail Vietnam.
  • Impact Award: Rijk Zwaan, for investments in tailored products and solutions across Asia.

New Data, New Opportunities

Visitors also received the first copies of the Asiafruit Statistics Handbook 2025, a comprehensive annual guide produced by Fruitnet. The publication provides market intelligence and trade data for 12 key Asian markets, offering businesses an essential tool for strategy planning.

Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability remained a focus, with continued collaboration with Feeding Hong Kong, the local food bank. Exhibitors once again donated surplus produce, helping prevent food waste while supporting communities in need. Last year, the initiative diverted 8.3 tonnes of fresh produce from disposal.

Looking Ahead: China and Peru Meet Ups

The momentum of Asia Fruit Logistica will carry forward through a series of Meet Up events. The China Meet Up takes place on September 8–9 in Guangzhou, connecting global suppliers with China’s influential buyers. Later in the year, the Peru Meet Up debuts on October 28–29 in Lima, linking Latin American exporters with key Asian and international partners.

Returning to Hong Kong in 2026

Asia Fruit Logistica will return to Hong Kong from September 2–4, 2026 at AsiaWorld-Expo. Organisers are already promising an even larger and more globally diverse edition, as Asia continues to cement its role as the driving force of the world’s fresh produce trade.
