Shaanxi Fair Highlights Breakthroughs in Agricultural Technology

China’s Premier Agricultural Innovation Showcase Returns: 32nd Yangling Agri-Tech Fair to Drive Global Collaboration and Rural Revitalization

Beijing — The 32nd China Yangling Agricultural High-tech Fair (YAHF) will take place from October 25 to 29, 2025, in the Yangling Agricultural High-tech Industries Demonstration Zone of Shaanxi Province, organizers announced Thursday in Beijing. Widely regarded as one of Asia’s most influential platforms for agricultural innovation and international cooperation, this year’s event will spotlight cutting-edge technologies, food security strategies, rural revitalization initiatives, and global partnerships in the agri-sector.

Under the overarching theme of “Innovation-Driven Development for Food Security and Sustainable Rural Growth,” the five-day fair will adopt a hybrid format, integrating physical exhibitions with a robust digital presence, to accommodate participants from across the globe. The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province.

Four Integrated Exhibition Zones

This year’s fair will be structured around four distinct yet interconnected exhibition zones: indoor, field, cloud, and international.

Indoor Exhibition: Housed in the Yangling International Exhibition Center, this section will showcase breakthroughs in high-tech agriculture, including biotechnology, precision farming tools, and next-generation agri-inputs. A dedicated pavilion will highlight international cooperation projects, while another will feature smart agricultural machinery, from autonomous tractors to AI-powered crop monitoring systems.

Field Exhibition: Spread across 11 thematic display points and 12 demonstration sites within the Yangling Demonstration Zone, the outdoor component will offer hands-on insights into practical applications of modern agricultural science. Key focus areas include advanced seed breeding technologies, soil health and land conservation practices, water-efficient irrigation systems, and integrated smart farming ecosystems. Visitors will witness real-time demonstrations of drought-resistant crops, vertical farming models, and digital soil mapping tools.

Cloud Exhibition: Embracing the digital transformation of global trade, the virtual platform will leverage artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) to create an immersive, borderless experience. The cloud exhibition will facilitate online product showcases, business matchmaking, live negotiations, and e-commerce transactions—ensuring accessibility for international stakeholders unable to attend in person. Enhanced by real-time translation and interactive dashboards, the platform aims to bridge geographical and linguistic divides in agri-tech collaboration.

International Exhibition – Tashkent Satellite Event: In a strategic move to deepen China’s agricultural diplomacy, a parallel international exhibition will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This satellite event will promote Chinese agricultural technologies, machinery, and sustainable farming solutions to Central Asian markets, reinforcing China’s role as a key partner in regional food security and rural development.

Global Participation and SCO Collaboration

The 2024 fair has already attracted confirmed participation from more than 1,800 enterprises and institutions spanning 41 countries. Notable international delegations include members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), such as Russia, Kazakhstan and Pakistan, as well as representatives from African nations, the Netherlands, Sweden, and other European countries. Domestically, attendees will include provincial agricultural bureaus, national industry associations, research institutes, and leading agribusinesses from all 34 provincial-level regions of China.

Running concurrently with the main fair, the SCO Agricultural Expo will serve as a dedicated forum for policy dialogue, technology transfer, and investment opportunities among SCO member states. This alignment underscores Yangling’s growing role as a hub for multilateral agricultural cooperation under China’s broader Belt and Road Initiative.

High-Level Forums and Innovation Competitions

Beyond exhibitions, the fair will host a robust program of high-level forums, technical seminars, and competitive events designed to catalyze innovation and investment:

  • SCO Modern Agriculture Development Roundtable: A ministerial-level dialogue focusing on climate-resilient agriculture, cross-border agri-logistics, and digital rural infrastructure.
  • 2025 International Apple Industry Technology Innovation Conference: Bringing together global experts to address challenges in fruit cultivation, post-harvest handling, and value-chain optimization, particularly relevant given Shaanxi’s status as China’s top apple-producing province.
  • National Modern Agriculture Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition: Showcasing startups and R&D teams with disruptive solutions in agri-tech, from bio-based pesticides to blockchain-enabled traceability systems. Winners will receive funding, incubation support, and potential pathways to international markets.

A Legacy of Impact

Since its inception in 1994, the Yangling Agricultural High-tech Fair has evolved into a cornerstone of China’s agricultural modernization strategy. Over the past three decades, it has welcomed more than 30,000 exhibitors from over 70 countries and 34 Chinese provinces, drawing an estimated 35 million visitors, including farmers, scientists, policymakers, and investors.

“The Yangling Fair is more than an exhibition, it’s a catalyst for transforming how we produce, distribute, and think about food in an era of climate uncertainty and population growth,” said a senior official from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs during Thursday’s press briefing in Beijing. “This year, we’re placing special emphasis on scalable, inclusive innovations that empower smallholder farmers while advancing national and global food security goals.”

As the world grapples with supply chain disruptions, environmental degradation, and rural-urban disparities, the 32nd Yangling Agri-Tech Fair aims to position agricultural innovation not just as a technical pursuit, but as a shared global mission. With its blend of on-the-ground demonstrations, digital connectivity, and diplomatic engagement, the event reaffirms China’s commitment to open collaboration in building a more resilient and equitable food future.
